Affiliate Disclosure
How this site pays for itself, stated plainly.
Nexulab is funded by advertising and affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly how, because you are entitled to know who pays for what you are reading.
This disclosure is made in accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a commission from the retailer.
The price you pay is exactly the same. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket, and using our link never costs you more than going to the retailer directly.
Amazon Associates. Nexulab is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
We may also participate in other affiliate programs from time to time. Where we do, the same rules apply.
Advertising
We display advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are selected by Google, not by us. We do not choose which advertisers appear, and the presence of an ad is not an endorsement — a company can advertise here and be criticised in an article on the same page.
Advertising cookies are only set if you consent. See our Cookie Policy.
What we do not do
We do not accept payment for a recommendation. No company can buy a place in a list, a favourable conclusion or a rating.
We do not publish sponsored posts disguised as editorial. If we ever publish paid content, it will be labelled as such at the top of the page, unmissably.
We do not let commission rates decide rankings. Software with no affiliate program at all — free and open-source tools in particular — regularly wins our recommendations. That happens because a recommendation that follows the money is worthless to you and, in the long run, worthless to us.
We do not link to things we would not suggest to someone we know. If the honest answer to a question is “you do not need to buy anything”, that is the answer we publish, even though it earns nothing.
Why we tell you this
An affiliate site that hides its incentives is asking you to trust conclusions you cannot audit. We would rather show the incentive and let you judge the reasoning on its merits.
If you ever think a recommendation on this site looks influenced by a commercial interest, tell us and we will re-examine it: hello@nexulab.org
Supporting us
If something here saved you time or money, using our links when you buy is the easiest way to support the site. It is entirely optional and nothing on this site is gated behind it.
