Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past.
Nexulab (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at nexulab.org. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit it.
By using this website you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal information. Our web server keeps standard access logs. We use Google Analytics to count audiences, and we intend to show advertising through Google AdSense. You can refuse non-essential cookies and the site will work normally.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and we keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our server records each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, HTTP status, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing technical faults, and are retained for a limited period before deletion.
Information collected through cookies and similar technologies. Only with your consent, and only where consent is required. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How we use information
- To deliver the website and keep it available
- To protect the site against abuse, attack and fraud
- To understand, in aggregate, which content is useful
- To reply to messages you send us
- To display advertising, where you have consented to it
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, deployed through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used: which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and what devices they use. Google processes this data on our behalf as a processor, and we have enabled IP anonymisation and data redaction.
Google Analytics may transfer data to servers outside your country, including the United States. We do not use Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not combine Analytics data with any other information about you.
You can opt out at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer. Google also publishes a browser opt-out add-on that blocks Analytics across all websites.
Consent Mode. Google’s tags on this site run under Google Consent Mode v2. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are measured only after they accept. Elsewhere, including the United States, measurement starts on the first visit and you may opt out at any point.
Advertising and third parties
We intend to display advertising on this website through Google AdSense and to participate in the Amazon Associates Program.
Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. For more information about how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites, see Google’s own privacy and terms pages.
Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies to attribute a resulting purchase to us. We never see your payment details or what you bought.
These third parties act as independent controllers of the data they collect. Their own privacy policies govern that processing, and we have no access to or control over the cookies they set.
Where advertising or measurement cookies require consent, none are set until you give it.
Legal bases for processing
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Serving the website, security, abuse prevention | Legitimate interests |
| Replying to your messages | Legitimate interests, or performance of a contract |
| Analytics cookies and identifiers | Your consent |
| Advertising cookies and identifiers | Your consent |
| Retaining records where the law requires it | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Have your information deleted
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise the right to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising, use the Cookie Settings link in the footer or enable a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any right, email us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires.
Data retention
Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted. Email correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to handle your enquiry and any follow-up. Cookies expire according to the schedule in our Cookie Policy.
International transfers
Our service providers and advertising partners may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data of EEA or UK residents is transferred, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
Security
We use HTTPS across the entire site, keep our software patched and limit access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change, and material changes will be made prominent on the site.
